TETRAD ECO RANGE - The Natural Choice! We are proud to be one of the first furniture manufacturers to produce environmentally friendly upholstery acknowledging our responsibility to take part in addressing global ecological issues. Our commitment to excellence extends beyond the exceptional quality of our upholstery, now we are totally dedicated to provide an eco-friendly collection to help save the planet!
Using raw materials from renewable sources, and produced in an ecologically sound manner, helps to keep chemicals out of the home. All our products are free from man made materials such as polyester, poly-urethane foam, oil based lacquers or any petroleum base products.
Our frames are manufactured from sustainable wood that is FSC (Forest Stewardship Council) certified. Webbings are made from hessian & jute and our springs are steel. Upholstery materials are 100% natural including Mongolian horsehair, duck feathers and down and woollen wadding. Fabric compositions include Alpaca wool, cotton, linen, silk and ramie which are all natural. Zips have been replaced by shell and wooden buttons or fabric ties.
The Water Buffalo hides, more commonly associated with the Mozzarella Cheese industry, are tanned without any of the potentially carcinogenic chemicals normally used in modern tannages. We prefer a more natural approach incorporating bio-enzymes in combination with natural vegetable tannins that will naturally fade, resulting in a 'out of the attic' look.
Our long term commitment is to increase the ratio of our eco-friendly collection, with each piece of Tetrad's upholstery being a tribute to our attention to detail and a refusal to compromise on the quality of the materials that we use.
To buy a 'Tetrad Heirloom' will help the environment as it is unlikely to be discarded in a landfill during your lifetime. Tetrad firmly believes their changes will minimize harm to the world - above all they know that 'greenness' is a lasting commitment not a fashion trend.
